Flaunt Your Red!

Flaunt your Red is hosted by Nancy over at Southern Lady. Be sure to check out all the other participants listed there for some fabulous reds!

My first 'red' is this 'You are special today' plate that my sister-in-law gave our family for Christmas 20+ years ago. We've used it over the years for birthdays, graduations, engagements, promotions, school achievements, new jobs, Mother's Day, Father's Day...just about any and every reason there is for celebrating! We have continued the tradition by giving our children a plate when they marry and begin their own family. My youngest daughter received her plate this week!

This globe birdhouse with the red perch and stand was purchased at Marshall's several years ago, and it sits on the top shelf in our study. I liked it so well that when I found it in a smaller size in another city, I bought it for my son's apartment.

This plant is a cutting from my neighbor's bougainvillea. It's just budding out in the prettiest red blooms! Imagine my surprise and excitement to see the red from a parent plant that was pink!!

I found a medium canister and a large canister very similar to these at Marshall's. I was hoping to find the small one to complete my set. A dear friend of mine set out to find one for me, and bid and won a small Gracious Goods canister! Next to it, my two other canisters didn't look quite as bright, so I started scouting eBay for good buys on the other two sizes in Gracious Goods. I was delighted to get both of them for less than $100!! So now, my oldest daughter is the very happy owner of my knock-off set of canisters!

You have some beautiful reds. I love that globe...now that's one thing that is so pretty and you won't see it in every house. And those canisters...love them!

I see that you are a Houston girl. I'm from the Dallas area. My hubby's family is from Centerville, TX.

Your porch looks like Reba's. :)

Lynda,
Thanks for sharing what you are grateful for, and for posting my giveaway on your blog.

I have 2 more bird nests done, and will post them on my blog tonight or tomorrow. Have yet to sign up for Pay Pal. Really NEED to do that.

I know you were talking about winning the bird nest to put in your globe, but if you want one made that isn't attached to something already, I could make you one special, the right size and all.

Still love your home and all your red. =0))

Blessings,
Barbara Jean
I'm gueeeing your globe opens?
